“Something that comes to mind though is this. I think a big part of the problem is players like yourself can’t separate me the person from the game. You were trying to discredit what I said as me the person Nikki on the Commons. By all means you are more than welcome to do so in a non game related conversation. The problem came when you broke the law doing in trying to do it, and me the Admin of E-R dealt with it. You became angry at me personally because you didn’t like my opinion, and when I enforced the rules I bet you even thought to yourself that I had just abused my powers because I was personally involved in the conversation and you had challenged what I’d said. Be honest. You did think I only used my powers to suppress your rebuttal didn’t you.”
No, I realized it was impossible to discuss things with you because you would go about, accusing me of violating copyright on something that the author said didn’t have a copyright BUT that they would prefer the article was always posted in its entirety.
That’s a convenient excuse to hide behind, pretending you can see the future and know what I would do, but fact is you can’t see the future. You broke the forum rules. It is that simple, but you just can’t admit you did it and that I was just enforcing the rules.
On top of that, you obviously never bothered to read it, because it showed how your article was completely misleading and incorrect.
I read it and found it to be lacking compared to the articles published in peer reviewed publications on the subject, and dismissed it.
Your other problem is calling people names when you’re angry or frustrated. I see that a lot. They may not include swear words, but when they don’t they’re names you might hear little children call each other or (in some cases) a mean old teacher call their elementary student.
Please, if you’re going to accuse, provide some references so we can all see what you are basing your accusations on.
That’s why I left. I’m never paying for the game again.
So?
I care about how professional companies are and this game is definitely not.
It isn’t a “company” so what does that have to do with me?
If you honestly just want a playground for your friends, then disregard my opinions.
That’s all it’s ever been. You just assume it to be some corporation of professionals out to make money.
I’ve just never met an online horsie-sim game owner that actually had forums and websites dedicated to hating her.
I have. Oh you should hear how people talk about Jeff that owns Showdog. There was a yahoogroup of Jeff haters. Oh and the things they say about Jackie that runs Equination. Lots of haters out there.
Around the time I split from VHR, its owner had people going around the net posting all over, starting forums, starting LJs, and even chat rooms dedicated to bitching about her and her game. Two people hounded the VHR entry on Top Webgames posting horrible things about her for over a year, and filed complaints with the BBB because she gave out one of their real names and address to other players who then harassed her and her husband that had cancer because they thought she’d made her husband up. (And you think -I- am unprofessional?!)
FYI we’ve had no BBB complaints from paid players in four years, and one from a free player that was told the BBB doesn’t deal with free stuff.
Check out our competition like Orbis Games 3 complaints in the last 36 months, or Third Row Productions 5 complaints in the last 36 months, or WhiteOakStables.net/Design1Online.com that has also had 3 complaints in the last 36 months. (WOS is smaller than E-R based on the number of upgrades and the number of horses in the game, and a lot of their upgrades don’t ever expire.)
You know I must not be doing as horrible at this game running thing as you make it sound.
There’s been a reason why the forums have been dying. Haven’t you noticed that the threads aren’t posted with the same fervor and joy anymore? People are afraid of making a mistake and they don’t want flamed.
Except that is an untruth. They aren’t dying. Everyone has access to the forum statistics and can plainly see that this winter has been our biggest since the SMF forums were installed over two years ago.

I was worried that if this kept carrying on it would mean the death of ER
Oh I wouldn’t worry about that. We set a record month in sales February, grossing $8,500. We’re like the third largest all breed/multiple discipline browser based horse game.

To go back farther I would have to go log into SHG’s stats.
Yes, that really does say that over fifteen THOUSAND folks visit E-R a month. Between six and seven MILLION page views.
Suffice it to say, it has been very steady growth since the release of v4. I’ve tracked trends for over four years now, and there is always a decline in activity when the weather turns warm, but it begins building back up during the summer break and into fall straight through ’til spring again.
But of course you, without any of this data, have determined the game is in danger of dying because I have opinions and express them, and enforce rules in a way you find unpleasant.
and I thought you realized it was safer for the company
What freakin “company”? I’m a person that made a game. This is something I started for fun because we were sick of how Nef ran VHR, that happened to get popular and help my husband and I get back on our feet financially. It’s a hobby, that I pay business and self employment taxes for to make the IRS happy. As long as it makes enough to pay its own way, it’s going to be online.
Companies set out to make money. Profits even. Companies budget for things like advertising. Prior to 2008, you probably couldn’t have bought a saddle for what we’d spent to advertise. We just didn’t bother. We have advertised this year to see what it would do.
